I am...
I went to a session today put on by HLS career services intended to help out those of us who are stuck in law school but still aren't really sure what to do with our lives. It's supposed to be some sort of a personal-evaluation thing. Anyway, the first thing they had us do was complete 11 sentences that begin with the words "I am...". Here's what I wrote (take it in the context of a law school career and personal evaluation session):
1. I am a child of God.
2. I am the husband of Shelly, son of my parents, and a future father.
3. I am intelligent and skilled enough to succeed.
4. I am a musician and I want to be a writer.
5. I am becoming more politically aware and opinionated.
6. I am a member of the LDS Church.
7. I am still unsure how to best use my talents for the world's benefit.
8. I am of the opinion that when work and family conflict, family (usually) wins.
9. I am a creative person looking for an outlet.
10. I am in law school as a skill-building, not career-preparing, exercise.
11. I am happy, friendly, and I get along with others.
