The Wonders of Technology
Another item for the I-Don't-Remember-How-The World-Functioned-Before-Cell-Phones File. I am sitting in the Langdell Library, studying, minding my own business, when my phone rings (don't worry--it's on vibrate). I don't recognize the number, but it's from DC, and I figure it might be something important, so I hop up and run to the lobby (where I can talk aloud) to answer it. It's my old friend Wade Eyerley, who informs me he's in Boston for the weekend. I ask him, "Where are you?," thinking he'll say he's on the Boston Common or at some friend's house or something. He says, "In front of Langdell Hall." I step outside the doors and there he is.
Thanks to the wonders of cell phone technology, Wade was able to find his lone friend in Boston (although we all must admit it was a terrific coincidence that I was 100 yards away from him when he called). I'm able to show him around the library and recommend the Freedom Trail on this fine spring (Yes! Spring in Boston!) day. That's the world we live in!
