Friends Finale
Well, we watched it last night and it was everything Shelly had hoped for. It was about what I expected, too. Did anyone think Ross and Rachel WOULDN'T hook up? Even when she got on the plane? If nothing else, he was going to Paris after her. Here are some other random thoughts:
* So I guess Joey's going to decide that he's moving to California at the beginning of his new series, not at the end of this one. I wonder how many "Friends" cast members will be in the pilot. Based on the commercials they showed, it looks silly. Wonder if it'll last.
* Speaking of commercials and series finales, I guess next week is the "Frasier" finale. In my Negotiations class this winter, I learned that a couple of years ago, negotiaions to renew the contract between NBC and the production company broke down. They traced the source of the problem to Kelsey Grammer wanting to hold out for two seasons, not one (as NBC wanted) so he could become the longest-running character in TV history (10 seasons on "Cheers" and 11 on "Frasier"). What's up with "Frasier" running longer than "Cheers," which was much cooler? Wonder if he'll make guest appearances on other NBC shows ("Joey"?) as they are sometimes wont to do, just to extend his streak.
* Didn't do a good job of covering up the fact that Courteney Cox Arquette is pregnant. Why is she adopting?
* I want a new duck.
* My favorite moment was the goodbye to the foozball table. It's been as much a character as any of the rest of them.
* I would hate to be that guy who claims to be married to Phoebe. As a newlywed, I wouldn't be so thrilled that my new wife is still hanging out with her old friends and leaving me out, apparently living with them still, and definitely ignoring me. She should have married Joey.
* "The Simpsons," for the record, is in its 15th season.
