Future Hobbies

For quite a while now, I've dreamed of the day when I'll be old and stable and rich enough to have a yard and own a dog. And for quite a while now, I've been looking forward to that day and specifically envisioning my dog as a Frisbee dog. I want to have a dog that I can take to Frisbee dog competitions and win championships with. All the neighborhood kids will come over and ask to meet my Frisbee dog, and I'll take them into the back yard, toss up a disc, and ol' Chuckles (or Bix, or Snooker, or whatever his name will be) will race along, leap, and snag it out of the air. All the kids will cheer. I'll be the hero. Er, Chuckles will be the hero, but I'll get the credit.

Much more recently, I've been thinking that another great hobby to take up is the home brewing of root beer. I met some people briefly once, a long time ago, who did this. It didn't strike me then, but now I think that would be a great hobby. I love root beer, and I love creating stuff. So what better fun than creating root beer? And I don't mean just buying the Hire's extract at the store and plopping it in with some dry ice. I mean from scratch. Determining my own special blend of herbs and spices, or whatever it is that makes root beer taste like root beer. Roots, I guess. Yeah. Roots. Maybe I'll grow my own roots.

As long as the Frisbee dog doesn't dig them up.
