A Name With Meaning

This Sunday the program in church was presented by the children's organization, the Primary. It was a lot of fun to watch all the cute kids singing their little hearts out and bearing their testimonies (and watching Shelly try to make them behave all the while).

One girl's little talk struck me most particularly, though. She told the story of her cousin, born in Korea and adopted by her aunt and uncle. She talked about taking the new baby to the temple, so they could all be sealed together as a family. What I liked most about it, though, was when she told us that her cousin's name is Olivia. She said the name represents the allegory of the olive tree, where Christ grafts various branches from various different trees into the main tree of the House of Israel. Once grafted, the branch and the olive tree cling to each other and grow together better than they would have grown separately. They become one.

What better name for a member of the family who has been grafted in through adoption? I hope I can come up with such meaningful names for my children.
