Send in the Clones

So last night (yes, Christmas night) Shelly and I watched Star Wars Episode II: The Attack of the Clones. Neither of us had seen it since it came out in theaters a couple of years ago (and we're excited for Episode III). Afterwards, Shelly said, "Send in the Clones." I thought she had a great idea, and together we wrote the following song parody, to the tune of "Send in the Clowns" by Stephen Sondheim. Imagine the scene where Anakin, Padme, and Obi-Wan are chained to the pillars in the coliseum on Geonosis.

Send in the Clones
By Shelly and Matt Astle

Isn’t this rich?
Aren’t we a pair?
Me here with Obi-Wan shackled
You free up there
Send in the clones

Here come the beasts
How bad can it be?
One who keeps tearing your shirt
And one’s after me.
Where are the clones?
Send in the clones.

Just when I thought all hope was gone
Jedi threw light sabers to me and to Obi-Wan
Making their entrance again with their usual flair
Jango Fett’s here
His head’s over there

I used the Force
Tackled that steer
I thought that Yoda would come by now
But he’s not here
So where are the clones?
Quick, send in the clones
Don’t bother, they’re here

Aren’t there lots?
Don’t they look queer?
Running around like storm troopers
Kicking droid rear
Hurrah for the clones
Those late-coming clones
They’re finally here.

(Shelly’s alternate words for the last two lines of stanza 3 are: “Killed Jango Fett / Ans’ring my prayer.” Which do you like better?)
