Humble Pie
A couple of posts ago, I wrote a very, very long rant about problems I had with the way Family Law Quarterly published an article I wrote. I complained that FLQ did a shoddy job of editing, leaving my article with bad grammar and sentences that contradict each other.
This morning I was reviewing the history of the editing process to get my facts straight for a letter I was going to write to FLQ to complain officially. And it turns out that when the facts are straight, it's my fault. Yes, FLQ did a poor job of incorporating the original changes I wanted to make. But they sent me a copy of the article to review that included these errors, and I signed off on it. Sure, you'd think that some editor at FLQ would notice and correct the bad grammar and contradictory statements, but in the end, I had the opportunity to correct it myself, and I didn't catch the errors either.
So if anyone from FLQ or the ABA is reading this, I apologize for my earlier complaints about my article. Rather than registering a formal complaint, I will be eating humble pie.
