Mailing it in.

The personal information on this web page indicates that I am an avid Jazz fan. That means I am loyal to the organization, not to the people formerly associated with it. It seems Karl Malone is going to let the San Antonio Spurs know this week whether he'll be playing for them at the end of the season, or whether he'll retire. I am so sick of Karl Malone. All he's doing now is riding coattails. There isn't any other way to look at it. Last year, I cut him some slack because Stockton retired and the Jazz were rebuilding, so why not go take a pay cut to get that championship you've always dreamed of but singlehandedly botched for your whole team when you carelessly allowed Michael Jordan to steal the ball from you in the waning seconds of Game 6 of the 1998 Finals and make the series-winning jumper (Jordanian offensive fouls notwithstanding)? (Not that I'm bitter.) But now he's possibly jumping on the Spurs bandwagon midway through the season after they've already established themselves as the team to beat. After they've already established that they don't need Malone to win. It's just pathetic and selfish. Save us all some grief, Karl, and retire.

Speaking of the NBA, it seems the Celtics are on top of their division, ready for an automatic playoff berth. Sure, they're longshots to win the title, but odds have been overcome before! Anything can happen in the playoffs! Thanks to the Red Sox's curse-breaking, the Patriots' dynasty-forming, and the NHL's lock-outing, we could make it a clean championship sweep for Boston sports teams!
