Say Uncle!
This is to announce the birth of my new nephew, Bryce Hendrik Astle. This is probably the first time his name will be posted on the Internet. No wonder I'm his favorite uncle.
This is the second child of my brother who lives in San Antonio, and my parents' sixth grandchild (interestingly, all six have birthdays in the first four months of the year). So far, I'm their only offspring who hasn't had any offspring. I'll catch up sooner or later, I suppose.
We were all under the impression that this new baby would be named Freduardo. At least that's what my brother kept telling me (don't try to deny it!). I suppose Bryce will result in less teasing. And I must say that I admire their daring in striking out with a middle name chosen to honor our great-grandfather Hendrik Stam, who joined the church in Holland and brought his family to Utah.
