Matt, Meet Mitt.
The other day, I finally had the opportunity to meet my governor, Mitt Romney. It seems like he's a major figure in my life right now. I'm reading his book, he's all over the place in the national and local media, and my wife can't stop talking about him for some reason.
So Shelly and I went to the state house and posed for a picture with the Rising Star himself. The conversation was quick and perfunctory. I talked about how my brother worked for him on his campaign against Ted Kennedy in 1994, and his comment was, "Oh, he didn't work for me. He's a friend!" While it is true that my brother was best friends with Mitt's son, and he stayed at the Romney house for the summer he was here to help out on the campaign, that did say a lot about how much work my brother actually did.
Anyway, I can't say we're close chums now, but at least I've met him. And if the rumors all turn out to be true, and the dude runs for President and wins, it's going to be really cool to have this picture on our mantelpiece:
