My Brush With Fame, Take Two
My old roommate's career is picking up. Long-time readers of my blog (both of you) will remember that I like to gloat over the fact that the star of Napoleon Dynamite, Jon Heder, was my roommate for a semester at BYU. I'm ashamed to say that I haven't kept in touch with him since we parted ways in December 2000, but I am keeping an eye on what he's doing, basking in his reflected glory all the while.
So what's he doing? He's in a new movie with Reese Witherspoon, that's what. Of course, it seems he plays the conventional "Guy's Buddy" role that is required in all romantic comedies, so it's not like he's going to kiss her or anything. But still.
Napoleon Dynamite made Jon a celebrity. Maybe Just Like Heaven will make him a bona fide movie star.
(And for the record, this character looks a whole lot more like the Jon I remember than Napoleon did. Except, of course, that he had to shave at BYU.)
