Baby Therapy

The past couple of days have been really hard for me at work. I'm working on a litigation project, and it's crunch time. I was at the office very late the last two nights, and in fact, I didn't come home at all last week before Ellie went to bed (and then I worked all day Saturday too). So I've been going through baby withdrawal.*

This morning, as Shelly complained that the silly baby wouldn't stop moaning at 6:45am, I shot out of bed and went into her room. The next hour or so, as I held my baby while I ate breakfast and got ready for another long day at work, did wonders for me. Ellie is just so darn cute, and she's (usually) so darn pleasant first thing in the morning, it was easy for me to get my spirits up and be OK with doing what I'm doing.

And so, I propose a new stress therapy: baby time. No one can stay stressed or upset too long in the presence of a (well-behaved) baby. Pick her up, give her a kiss on those chubby little cheeks, get her to smile at you, and there's nothing that could feel better.

* Shelly, meanwhile, has been getting a little frustrated with the baby, as she ends up being with her all the time.
