My Baby's Growing Up

Last night Shelly and I tried to think of all the things Ellie has done for the first time in the past week or two. The list is long. Since she hit the nine-month mark at the beginning of this month, our little one has seemed bent on proving to us that she's not going to be that little any longer. Among her developments in the past couple of weeks:

* She got her first top tooth, with another soon on its way
* She learned how to go from lying down to sitting up by herself
* She finally demonstrated that she can crawl on her hands and knees, though she still seems to prefer the legless army crawl
* She stopped going "Thppt!" and started saying "Mamama"
* She stopped saying "Mamama" and started saying "Ba"
* She learned how to kneel
* She learned how to pull herself up onto her feet from a kneeling position
* She learned how to climb stairs (only one significant fall so far!)
* She has started returning our kisses, with big open-mouthed, tongue-filled, slobbery smooches on our cheeks
* She ate people food for the first time: pieces of an actual banana, Spanish rice, and a teeny bit of taco beef
* When I cough, she will respond with this really funny throat-clearing sound
* Her mommy finished knitting her blankie, and she's started sleeping with it

I very well might be forgetting something. The list goes on and on. And remember, this is in the last TWO WEEKS. What will next week bring? What a baby!
