Tomorrow's Former Child Stars: Where Are They Now?

Last night Shelly and I watched one of those silly TV shows about former child stars and where they are now. It's fun to relive the TV shows of my youth and see how the actors have grown up.

But I came away with the following question: what will these "Where Are They Now" shows look like in 20 years? Who are today's current child stars? I can't think of a single famous actor or actress who is currently in a TV series and is also under 15 years old. Heck, 20 years old. What with all the reality shows and drama shows and even more adult-oriented sitcoms like Friends and Seinfeld and Will & Grace, are there even any kids on TV today? Where are the Michelle Tanners, the Zack Morrises, the Mike Seavers, and especially the Punky Brewsters of today?

Comments:
Unlike in our day, the majority of kids shows are on cable channels that most adults never watch, until, that is, their children start getting older. Look forward to it. Most of the big stars from those shows and big screen movies are still on the radar though. The likes of Hilary Duff, the Olsen twins, Lindsay Lohan, Raven Simone, Frankie Munez, Dakota Fanning and Haley Joel Osment still have things going on. So unless they crash and burn, I guess in 20 years we'll be watching reunion shows with Dora the Explorer and Bob the Builder.

I don't really count most of those people you mentioned, because a lot of them are movie stars (Osment, Fanning, Lohan). And the Olsen twins are on the CURRENT former child star shows! (Does that mean they're already washed up? Yes. Yes, it does. To me they will always be Michelle Tanner.)

But you're right--the Disney Channel is going to be the focus of the future former child star shows. It's the only place where you have live-action kids on TV these days.
