Flowers for My Sweetheart
Until today, I had never given Shelly her favorite flower. She's not a daisy girl, and she's not a lily girl. She does really like roses, and I've given her plenty of those, but her very favorite flower of all time has eluded her, until now.
See, Shelly's favorite flower is the lilac.
Today we went to the local plant nursery just up the road and got ourselves a lilac bush to plant beside our back patio. There are already buds on it that will open up soon and envelop our backyard in it heavenly aroma. Shelly was so excited she was almost giddy.
The thing about lilacs of course, is that not only do they not sell them on the street or even in most florist shops, but the blossoms are really only around for a couple of weeks a year. But what a couple of weeks they are. Shelly has been known to venture into people's yards for a better sniff.
Now, she won't have to. My sweetheart has her favorite flower in our very own yard.
