The End of "Da"s
Yesterday turned out to be a momentous day in Ellie's development, but I find that I'm feeling bittersweet about it.
For months and months, Ellie has been speaking Russian. Just one word: da. It's her way of saying yes. I don't know how she picked it up, or how she decided that da sounds like yes, but it's one of the cutest things she does. I've gotten so used to it, sometimes when I ask her a silly question that I want her to respond affirmatively to, I tell her, "Say da." Then she says da.
Yesterday, without warning, all day long, she consistently said des instead of da.
I knew that one day, she'd have to stop saying da and start saying yes. We don't live in Moscow. And des is one step closer to yes. But I have to admit, I feel a little sad that my little girl won't be saying da anymore. It was just so cute.
I guess I'll just have to hope that her little sister, due in early November, will follow in her Russian footsteps, at least for a while.

That is wonderful to hear!
I bet Ellie's little sister will speak much quicker as she will have her older sister to influence her day-to-day.
I can't wait to experience the joys of being a parent! :)
