Quick - Ask Me What Time It Is

It wasn't until recently that I realized that my watch was stupid. I'm a grown man now with two kids, and I'm still wearing a watch nearly identical to the one I wore in high school. That high school watch died in a canoeing mishap just before I left on my mission in 1995 (my silly cousin was in the canoe with me and when a jet-ski went by, he leaned too far to compensate for the wake), and I immediately went and bought a similar watch by the same manufacturer because I liked the old one so much. I liked the new one too. But it was time to go, as you can see for yourself. This is not the watch of a hotshot attorney. I mean, look at the chipping chrome covering on the cheap plastic.

Oddly enough, the thing that took the most effort to get past was wanting another new watch with a combination analog-digital readout. I'm a bit lazy when it comes to telling the time, and I liked that my old watch could look like a cool analog watch, but I could look at the digital readout when I actually wanted to know what time it was.

I asked for a new watch, and Shelly got me this one for our anniversary.

Now I'm cool, but I have to read analog time. It's actually not all that hard, now that I'm getting used to it (our ancestors may have been onto something!). I'm even finding myself using phrases like "ten minutes to eight" that a digital-watch-wearer would never say.
