San Diego Dreaming
I'm in San Dieg0 right now, at the Holiday Inn Express. I'm here for work, but tomorrow the girls -- all three of them -- are coming out to spend the rest of the week. As soon as my meetings are over on Thursday, we'll take the rest of the week and weekend for vacationing.
Things could have gone better on the way out here. Our flight was almost two hours late in arriving, due partially to an aircraft that didn't show up to let us board on time, and partially to an unexplained decision to wait at the gate for over an hour. United didn't bother to explain what the deal was, or even to apologize for the delay at any point. And then, of course, we had to wait in the rain for the rental car shuttle (doesn't it never rain in Southern California). When all was said and done, it was 1:20am Pacific Time when I turned off my light and went to sleep. For those keeping track, that's 4:20 Eastern. Blech.
So I wasn't at full strength today for my client meetings. But the silver lining is that I have a wonderful night ahead of me to make up for a crappy one last night. I'm watching the BCS National Championship Game (about which I don't really care very much), and soon I'll slip into the tub for a relaxing soak and then I'll sleep for 9 or 10 hours without interruption -- something I haven't done in a couple of months.
