Home Alone: Day 13 - A New Beginning

In a couple of hours I will get in the car and head up to BWI airport to pick up my three girls, and my reign of solitude will come to an end.

I'm happy it's coming to an end. I miss them, and I want to get back into my normal routine. The past almost two weeks have been really fun and rewarding for me, what with the sleeping through the night, the cultural activities, the clean house, and just the lack of worrying about anyone other than myself. But it's not nearly as rewarding as worrying about someone other than yourself, and helping and serving and loving them.

This weekend I put an emphasis on taking time to sit back and take a look at my life and where I'm going and to come up with a bunch of little goals and aspirations to make my life better. I'm not going to post my whole list for all the world to see - partially because some of them are kind of private and personal, and also because the list is kind of long (I'll be lucky to comply with half of them). But the list includes mundane things such as "Floss," and aspirational things such as a specific workout plan (which is an upgrade from the mere workout schedule I've been on since New Year's). Through these goals, I hope to improve my relationships with everyone from Shelly to old friends to my Heavenly Father, as well as improve myself in many aspects.

I kind of feel like the girls coming home is going to start a new phase in my life. I'm going to keep to these goals as much as I can, and hopefully it will result in heretofore unheard-of levels of happiness and life satisfaction (plus: fewer cavities!). It's a really great feeling to get a respite from normal life, and then jump back into normal life with increased resolve and aspiration. Wish me luck!
