Flying Without a Clue
So yesterday a pair of guys in a little Cessna plane got lost and flew into restricted airspace over Washington, DC. The White House, Capitol, and Supreme Court were evacuated, and panic reigned for a while. The reports say that they were flying with out-of-date maps, and didn't know where they were.
But I think they were flying with the latest in map technology: Google Maps. They were just flying along, minding their business and tracking their progress precisely, when they came across this big blur on the map. Figuring it was nothing important, they just continued onward.
Yeah, Google Maps has blurred out the Capitol Building and its associated office buildings (look it up). It baffles me why. They're still visible enough you can kind of tell where they are. And it's not like a bona fide terrorist would get confused and give up if he were trying to attack the Capitol. And why only the buildings of the legislative branch? The White House and Supreme Court are in plain view, and the Court is just across the street!
